She went through the rebellious phase where she didn’t like superheros, but when pressed, she will watch Justice League with me. I would like her to at least know a lot about comic books, if not enjoy them,” Dean of Students Max Delgado said.

“When I was teaching in San Francisco, one of my students who was not passing my class - a kid named Miguel - came up to me one time, and he wanted to give me a letter. And the letter thanked me for not giving him a passing grade, because he for the first time took it seriously that he needed to work hard. So we’re talking about what he could do to improve, and we just had one of these sort of random conversations, and he said ‘what do you do when you’re not here?’ and I said ‘well I build boats, and I bind books, and occasionally I make beer.’ He goes, ‘oh, you make beer? My dad does that sometimes, cool.’ And he begins talking about his favorite beer. Now, this is a junior, and he’s not old enough to drink beer. So I’m in a classroom after school, having a conversation with an underage kid about his favorite beer, explaining why while he should not be drinking any beer, the beer he has chosen is probably not worth it," Upper School English teacher Randall Findlay said.

WORDS OF WISDOM: The Redhawks met in a huddle between innings, sharing words of encouragement before going into the outfield. Even though they were losing consistently throughout their first game, the team remained cheerful.

TEAM BONDING: The girls gathered in the dugout, chatting in between games. Refilling the water cooler and exchanging snacks, the Redhawks refreshed themselves for game two.

READY TO GO: Ninth grader Jay Tilton is seen ready at the plate, ready to swing. She is pictured during the first of her two at-bats in the first game.

GOOD GAME: The Redhawks and the Mustangs exchange handshakes at the end of the double-header. As the sun began to set, the Redhawks’ final game against Breck for the season had officially come to a close.

Jay Tilton appears again at the first of her two at-bats in the second game. She prepared herself to swing hard and run, low-fiving her teammates on the way to the plate.

SWINGING AWAY: Redhawks batter swings a great ball. Breck catcher prepares to receive a ball, and the Mustangs’ other players and coach watch through the fence of their dugout. The batter then turned to run for first base.

SHE’S A CATCH: Right Fielder Juliette Smith throws the ball back to the pitcher after catching a flyball. She continued to make multiple more great defensive plays that minimized Breck’s chances to run.

FULL STANDS: The Redhawks take place on the field to warm up before their first game. Breck, Minnehaha, and SPA families would soon fill the bleachers near the fence. Others who came after the bleachers were full sat on the hill behind the field or off to the side of the Redhawks dugout.

“PITCHER” THIS: One of the Redhawks’ pitchers winds up to throw a tough one. The first and third basemen can be seen in defensive positions, ready to chase a ball or a runner. Breck coaches are pictured in the designated coaches boxes near first and third base.

TAKEOFF: Redhawks runner swings, drops her bat, and takes off for first base. Breck outfielders and umpire look into the sky to track the ball for an attempted catch.

AND NOW, WE WAIT: Redhawks outfielders wait for the Mustangs’ batter to step to the plate. Mustangs’ coach waits in the coaches box as everyone sets into their place.

B.L. VS MAHONEY. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Brandi Levy, who was suspended by the school and removed from the JV squad for using the F-bomb in a Snapchat post. The highest court ruled that it was overreach on the school's part, and upheld her right to free speech, even if the speech included swear words.
