Boys Hockey beats Highland in their first section game with ease

The stands erupted with cheering and laughter as the Boys Varsity Hockey Team won their first section game against Highland. The score at the end of the game was 6-1. Goals were made by many different people on the team.

Though some SPA students showed up to support their team, those there wanted more students to show up to increase the school spirit present in the area including ninth-grader Brody Rindelaub: “There weren’t a lot of kids from SPA there, in the beginning, cheering on the team, which was a bit sad, but towards the end, people started to show up to support their home team,” he said.

Ninth-grader Addy Eby had the same reaction, “Although we won the game, it would be really fun if more people came to the games because moral is really important, so we need a large student section that can cheer on the team,” Eby said, “…but I still really enjoyed the game and thought everyone played really well.”

Despite this, many students enjoyed the game including junior Ruby Hoeschen. “The team had a good lead all throughout the game which was really good. They maintained their momentum throughout the whole and I really think they’re having fun out there. After winning this game, I’m hoping they head to state because I think it would be really fun to see them compete there and miss school to see them,” she said.

The boys hockey team plays St. Paul Johnson at the Phalen Area on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
