Sophomore Leni Nowakowski plays badminton to not only stay active but also enjoy the fall weather and stay distanced from friends.

Staying socially distanced is an important task for everyone to follow this year and while it can be inconvenient for some, there are many great ways to enjoy the fall season with friends and family while staying distanced. While the weather is still nice and forgiving, enjoying outside activities is a great way to get in the fall spirit and stay distanced. Some outside activities include hiking, apple picking, having a picnic, enjoying the crisp air while cuddled in a blanket or carving pumpkins with friends. Many people have different ways of finding fun during this unpredictable time.
“It’s really important to stay distanced right now and that’s why my favorite fall activity is going to orchards with friends to go apple picking and just be outside. Fall has the best weather making this a perfect socially distancable activity. I also love to admire the fall colors on the trees at orchards,” senior Erin Magnuson said.
As the school year just began, students spend a lot of their time focused on schoolwork and classes making it even more important to get outside and enjoy the fall season.

“I play badminton with my friends all the time. It’s a really great way to stay outside while hanging out with friends,” sophomore Leni Nowakowski said. “We always have fun competitions and it’s also a great way to stay active.”
As there are fewer and fewer bugs outside due to the season change, people can stay out longer and longer outside making it easy for outside activities to commence in the nighttime. People can stay outside and socially distant for longer.
“My friends and I have been having bonfires recently and it’s been really fun. We stay socially distant and we just talk around the fire. It’s a really relaxing [activity] to do with my friends while also making sure we’re all being safe,” junior Mukeil Rizvi said.
There are many great fall activities to do with friends and family that can be done while socially distanced. Fall has the perfect weather to be outside and do something active or relaxing either by yourself or with friends. Staying socially distant is really important in these unprecedented times and it can be hard to not be able to do the activities we were all once able to do, but there are some great activities to do in the spirit of fall that are just as fun and exciting, while also keeping everyone safe.
