Sophomore Solvej Eversoll goes up for a block during a club volleyball game. “Over the summer I plan to help out more at more of the fifth-grade clinics and there may be a camp that SPA is running and if so I hope to volunteer,” she said.

Sophomore Solvej Eversoll volunteered to coach volleyball this fall and is planning to continue this endeavor this summer.

“Over the summer I plan to help out more at more of the fifth-grade clinics and there may be a camp that SPA is running and if so I hope to volunteer,” Eversoll said.

She worked with fifth and sixth graders this fall through SPA at the Goodrich campus. She has been on varsity volleyball since her eighth-grade year and looks for volunteer opportunities that reflect her passions. Eversoll would volunteer on Saturday mornings starting at three or four and lasting for a few hours.

She got the volunteer job through Amy Peterson, an assistant coach for varsity volleyball. With the presence of fellow sophomores Riley Erben, Johnna Melk-Johnson, and freshman Natalie Volgenthaler, Eversoll worked with both boys and girls practicing their form and working to improve their basic volleyball skills.

The opportunities and experiences with friends gained from volleyball allowed her to acknowledge that her sport is a valuable part of her life and she hopes to inspire other girls to pursue volleyball.
