ON AND ON. Students are stuck in the parking lot lines as 8 a.m. approaches fast. Construction on Randolph avenue has led to more congestion in this entrance. “The problem is definitely the construction, Sophomore Nellie Larson said.

Parking lot lines create daily challenges for students trying to get to school. The long lines to enter the parking lots at the Huss entrance have been making students of all grade levels tardy to class. Sophomore Kavita Deo said, “Nothing will change until the construction is gone.”

Deo explained that this construction has been making her late to class. Construction on Randolph Avenue is the main cause of traffic blockage. Everyone is pulling into the school parking lot simultaneously, and with the traffic buildup, there is no way for the cars to flow through. This creates long lines of cars waiting to park or be dropped off.

Deo isn’t the only student affected by the long parking lot lines. Sophomore Ella Bond, also struggling with the parking lot lines, said, “They need to add a four-way stop into the intersection of Randolph and Wheeler so traffic can be let through.”

This is the main intersection where students pull into the parking lot to get to school. This intersection gets built up with traffic because the construction closed the other entrance to the lot. When cars are at this intersection, they cannot turn left until someone lets them in.

The traffic can be especially stressful for younger students who have recently gotten their licenses. The new drivers have to get used to driving and waiting in all the traffic. Sophomore Nellie Larson just got her license recently. Larson has started driving to school and is trying to get used to all the stop-and-go construction traffic: “The problem is definitely the construction,” she said.

The construction has created daily challenges for everyone trying to get in and out of the school. Students and staff look forward to seeing road construction finished and less traffic through the parking lot.
