“When I was teaching in San Francisco, one of my students who was not passing my class - a kid named Miguel - came up to me one time, and he wanted to give me a letter. And the letter thanked me for not giving him a passing grade, because he for the first time took it seriously that he needed to work hard. So we’re talking about what he could do to improve, and we just had one of these sort of random conversations, and he said ‘what do you do when you’re not here?’ and I said ‘well I build boats, and I bind books, and occasionally I make beer.’ He goes, ‘oh, you make beer? My dad does that sometimes, cool.’ And he begins talking about his favorite beer. Now, this is a junior, and he’s not old enough to drink beer. So I’m in a classroom after school, having a conversation with an underage kid about his favorite beer, explaining why while he should not be drinking any beer, the beer he has chosen is probably not worth it," Upper School English teacher Randall Findlay said.

SPORTSMANSHIP. After the conclusion of the game, both teams came together for a huddle. The game was filled with intense plays and a lot of contact but at the end, both teams displayed sportsmanship.

WATCHING. The Bears and Mustangs battle for control over the puck in front of the Bears' bench.

REACH. A Bears player extends her arms and stick to reach the fast-moving puck.

EYES ON ME. The two teams battle over the puck in front of the team benches.

STRETCH. The Bears kneel on the ice, stretching their hips and hamstrings in preparation for the second quarter.

FACE OFF. A referee drops the puck in between a Bear and Mustang to initiate a face off.

BLOCKED. The Bears Goalie shields the net with her leg pads, blocking the puck and preventing a point while other players shove each other around her.

INVESTED. Mustang fans and Breck spectators watch in anticipation as the game heats up.

OFFENSE. Bears number 12, Ella Bond, maneuvers her way threw the Mustangs' defense.

EYES ON THE PRIZE. A Bears player tracks the puck closely, closing in on the Mustang in control.

GOALIE VIEW. Even though all the players are duking it out in the Mustangs' zone, the Bears goalie watches closely and remains poised.

PILEUP. Three Mustangs pile up on a Bears player and successfully snatch the puck away and into the stick of another Mustang.

SPLIT SECOND. The puck stays midair for a split second while the two face off players begin to react.

READY. Benched Bears watch intently, waiting for their turn to hop the boards and play in the game.

SECURITY SEAMUS. Security Account Manager Seamus Glewwe works on his laptop in the Huss security office. This is his sixth year on the job. He believes the community doesn't know how much time security spends protecting people's cars. "We're noticing people parked in a no parking zone and [that] they're going to get towed. We're noticing that on a snow emergency day, they parked on the wrong side of the road, and we're sending emails and letting people know," Glewwe said.
