Teenagers should take advantage of museums in every way that they possible because they provide a unique learning experience. In the same way that traveling to a new country is incredible and interesting, museums open students up to different worlds and cultures.

It can be argued that books and television also show students new perspectives and stories. What makes museums stand out, is the level of interactivity in which people learn. Watching television is a passive activity, while experiencing a museum desires active participation, so that a more fulfilling experience is had, and a greater amount learned.

In a way that schools struggle, museums reignite a person’s curiosity, help them see the world in a new way, and still be an entertaining. At school learning can become routine. The repetitiveness can be boring. Museums are a break from the doldrum. A fresh take on learning.

When much of their lives are controlled and regulated teenagers look anywhere to find freedom.  It’s something one could do alone, or as a group. It works either way, because at a museum, there is no limit to the ways to experience it. In school, you go the pace of the teacher, but in a museum there is the freedom to learn at your own pace. Skim each exhibit, or slowly walk through every room, it is completely up to the visitor.

For teenagers, museums are an especially advantageous opportunity because of their accessibility. Traveling is expensive and books can be tedious, but museums are always cheap. Many museums do not have an admission price because they run on donations and grants. The Minneapolis Institute of Art relies mostly on donations, with some revenue coming in from their special exhibitions. There is no shortage of them either, a quick Google search for “museums near me”, and a list of dozens of unique museums will be given. In the Twin Cities there are museums that need people’s support to continue helping communities, The Science Museum of Minnesota, The Walker Art Center, The Bakken, and The Weisman Art Museum. These are a just a few examples of a much bigger group of many diverse museums.

This shows how dedicated museums are to helping people learn and experience new things. It is possible for museums to keep educating at reduced prices thanks to people who understand their beauty.

Go out and visit a museum. No one should pass up the opportunity of visiting a museum. Even if the educational benefit is not important to a person, they still will find
