Students and faculty barely squeezed into the gym during X-period on Wednesday to watch as eight teams, two from each grade, faced off in the annual homecoming dodgeball tournament. Seniors Patrick Wall and Peter Ostrem, this year’s Spartans, acted as announcers to set the stage for an undeniably memorable bracket.

The first matchup of the day was a freshman faceoff, with Team McLovin taking the victory and moving on in fairly dominant fashion. The sophomore round had the Bjork Baddies taking down the Super Spartanz in what was the first of many down-to-the-wire games in the tournament. Next was the juniors, which saw The Rockers emerging victorious in another more one-sided game. Finally, the senior round featured The Dodgebabus and Big Ballers, with the former coming out on top despite some heated arguments with the referee.

The first matchup of the semifinal round was the Bjork Baddies up against The Rockers. After some early back-and-forth, the juniors took the lead, leaving just Graham Waibel of the Bjork Baddies standing against five of The Rockers. In a miraculous turn of events, Waibel managed to clutch the match for his team, inviting thunderous applause from the sophomore crowd and the rest of the audience.

The last semifinal round and the grand finale will be played at the pep fest tomorrow, the winner of which will face off against a team of faculty members.
