The boys varsity basketball team beat Mounds Park Academy Panthers this past Tuesday in a hard fought match that had looked like an easy win in the first half until MPA picked up the pace. The Spartans had a steady 10 point lead over the Panthers for nearly the entire game which only changed about 4 min before the game was over. Senior Tommy Dicke and Junior Gus Grunau dominated the court with Sophomore Andrew Johnson making a few good plays. The Spartans didn’t lose momentum, the Panthers just gained it with point guard Junior Nik Guiang making nearly all the points for the Panthers. SPA prevailed in the end with a couple good penalty calls on the Panthers and Junior Nik Elsaesser making the game winning 2 points with only 8 seconds left in the game off a rebound by Tommy Dicke.
