SMB Wolfpack one game away from the State Tournament

The SMB Wolfpack continued their winning ways into the postseason, getting their first section win ever, by beating St. Paul Central 28-7. SMB dominated start to finish and did not give Central a shot the entire game.

Throughout the entire season, the motto for the Wolfpack has been “Play for November,” the focus has not been on the individual game, but the end of the season. That mentality has gotten them here, to the section finals.

The Wolfpack is now one win away from the state tournament. Standing in their way are the Mahtomedi Zephyrs, the team that ended the Wolfpack’s season last year in the section semifinal game.

Redemption is on the mind of the Wolfpack players. Sophomore Siegel Howard said if SMB were to win “It would be the best feeling in the world,” senior Derince Melton said that the team has been thinking about that game ever since the loss last year.

The section final game will be played at Mahtomedi High School, tonight at 7:00.
