K-12 student body comes together for second all-school assembly

The second all-school assembly yesterday was hosted to celebrate the past year, congratulate the seniors on their time at SPA and encourage the rising grades with advice for the coming year.

Beginning with Dr. Ottley’s advice to the school to “travel together if you want to go far,” the spirit of SPA was brought into a motivational speech.

“I thought that Dr. Ottley’s speech brought the community together,” junior Carson Granberg said, reflecting on the assembly. Then, members from various leadership councils spoke about their experiences: the upper school council, the middle school council, and the fifth-grade principles council.

The assembly ended with a high-five line between the seniors and the kindergarteners. Each senior’s name was called, and they were given handmade handkerchiefs after going through the line. Melina Kannankutty, a senior, thought the kindergarten high-five line was “adorable” and that the handkerchiefs were “very cute.”

To end the assembly, the school sang “Stand Up” before being dismissed.
