Even a losing season involves celebration. The May 14 home game was an opportunity for the softball team to celebrate seniors. The three seniors this year are Mia Litman, Claire Hallaway, and Elizabeth Nowakowski. The game did not go as everyone would have hoped, but that did not stop the smiles that were on the team’s faces.

“We were up in the beginning but then we got behind for the rest of the game. But nobody really took it to seriously; everyone was just happy that the seniors played well,” sophomore Annika Rock said.

Out in the stands multiple parents could be seen holding up big cut out heads of each of the seniors. And every time one of them played all the parents would stand up and cheer. Along with the cut out heads there were big balloons that were brought to celebrate the three girls. Four big pink separate balloons wrote out “2019” the year that the three seniors were going to be graduating.

“Then in the middle of the game the big balloon that had the number 0 on it began to fly away! Everyone thought that it was really funny and cute, and at least we got the picture,” junior Kathleen Bishop said.

Even though they lost the game, everyone was happy and excited to celebrate with the seniors. After the game there was big barbeque and grill, and all the parents brought food for for everyone to eat. All the seniors were given flowers, and the captain’s gave speeches about the impact that the  seniors had had on their team.

The softball team plays their next game today at 4:30 p.m. vs. St. Croix prep. It is their last game of the season.
