Players on boys varsity basketball, hockey test positive for COVID-19

US Athletic Director Ken McNish announced that Spartan varsity Boys Basketball has been placed in quarantine after a player tested positive for COVID-19. According to the notification to families, the student developed symptoms on Mar. 4, prompting a COVID test that was positive. McNish wrote that the quarantine is a “precautionary measure” and that students shouldn’t be alarmed but should monitor their health while learning from home.

On Saturday, a second positive case of COVID-19 was reported on the varsity hockey team. The student-athlete was at practice Mar. 3-4. As a result, the varsity game this afternoon was canceled and all varsity hockey activities will pause through the quarantine.

“The safety of our students is our top priority,” McNish wrote.

Both teams will remain in distance learning until between Mar. 12-15 dependent on negative COVID tests.
