Latinos Unidos hosts Cinco de Mayo celebration
Students gathered in Lilly Courtyard during X-Period on May 5, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The student affinity group Latinos Unidos planned the celebration.
Latinos Unidos president Maryeva Gonzalez said, “It’s an opportunity for everyone to come together and have some fun as the year winds down.”
She has participated in the Cinco de Mayo celebration every year throughout high school. This year’s celebration included music, Mexican bread called concha, and a bright piñata filled with Mexican candy.
Many students tried their hand at cracking the piñata open. After about 15 minutes, the candy finally burst free.
Overall, the celebration was entertaining and enjoyable for students and teachers alike.
