Spartan Softball falls 12-17 against Humboldt Hawks

Spartan Softball played a long, grueling game against the Humboldt Hawks on a brisk April afternoon. The game was full of cheers, stolen bases, and scoring. The two teams combined for 29 total points. The Spartans lost to the Hawks 12-17.

Humboldt started the first inning off strong, but the Spartans rallied back. The first few innings went back and forth, neither team able to break away. The Spartans scored four runs in the fourth inning to take a six-run lead. However, the Hawks came back to tie the game at twelve and sent the game to extra innings. The Spartans allowed five unanswered runs in extra innings and lost the game.

Senior Jane Christakos said, “We got a bit ahead of ourselves because we were up by six at one point and unfortunately lost our grip on the game towards the end.”

The Spartans have only competed in two of their scheduled six games due to multiple postponements. They drop to 0-2 on the season and play at Breck on Monday, Apr. 26.
