Cheering at sporting events is helpful to the players in the games. It gives the athletes energy to elevate their game to the next level.

“I really like it when people cheer a lot,” junior Charlie Hooley, a member of the boys varsity track team, said. “Numbers aren’t the only factor here, what really matters is that the students are loud and cheer for me when I run.” That’s part of Boosters’ mission—to boost the cheering and fan turnout for certain games and sporting events because it really helps.

“The constant encouragement from the fans motivates me to work harder, it gives me energy,” sophomore soccer player Eleanor Matticks said.

Students coming with an energetic helpful attitude are what really count. While games are social event, it is important to cheer to help your classmates succeed. Likewise, it makes the event more memorable for everybody there. For example, during the first Jam the Gym this year, students were cheering and it was a raucous crowd. It was an extremely fun game for both the students and the players.

Spartan Boosters would appreciate any suggestions on ways to create a more memorable experience for students as well as a supportive environment for the athletes as we move into winter sports. Giving suggestions will help make the games more fun for you and encourage you to cheer.
