O’Brien plays on both the JV and varsity lacrosse teams, two quarters on JV and four on varsity. “ I enjoy getting to play for both teams since more playing time equals more time to improve and better your technique along with meet[ing] people from both of the teams,” O’Brien said.

Sophomore Jack O’Brien has been playing lacrosse for nearly five years. O’Brien got into Lacrosse because of his dad: “He really got me into the sport and I probably wouldn’t have started if it weren’t for him,” he said.

O’Brien currently plays for Blackhawks Lacrosse and reflects on the sport as the season comes to an end.

The team won three games and lost nine. O’Brien said, “It was a tough season but we are pulling through.”

Despite COVID-19, the team has seemed to bond well, partially thanks to the new masking protocols within the athletic department allowing social distancing to still take place, just without masks.

O’Brien said the “new masking protocols really let our team bond and made exercising outside much easier since the masks make it quite difficult to breathe in when running and doing drills. I also feel like it has allowed us to get to know each other better since we can fully see everyone’s faces.”
