SPA swimmers work well with Highland Park

This year, Spartans will make up a relatively small portion of the Highland Park-SPA swimming team. Despite the two school structure, the team works well together as a single unit. “They’re really nice kids and they are very welcoming,” freshman Karsten Runquist said. “Being a joint team with Highland is awesome” What the Spartan swimmers lack in numbers, they make up in talent and enthusiasm. “Some of us are also going to try and qualify for State this year and so far, by the looks of it, we have a pretty good chance,” Runquist said. The swim team hopes for more fan support in the coming year. “Getting more SPA kids out there to cheer on the team would really make a difference. A lot of people claim that it’s a boring sport to watch, but really, when you’re with your friends and going crazy, it’s actually pretty fun. We hope to see more Spartans out there cheering us on this year.”
