Girls Cross Country speeds to strong season

Led by a strong contingent of seniors, as well as two standout sophomores, Girls Cross Country has had a fulfilling season.  It started on a promising note, with a first place finish in a Labor Day meet. “Although many of our top competitors were missing it was exciting to have the team start off so well,” senior captain Ellen Swenson said. During a competition at St. Catherine University, sophomore Mary Naas ran a 14:58 4000 meter race, good for a second-place finish. “She’s always calm and ready to race,” Swenson said. Other standout runners include sophomore Ellen McCarthy and senior Lily Rodgers-Grant who ran for 15:37 and 15:57 times in the same event. “With Mary, Ellen McCarthy and Lily all setting school records and finishing in the top 20 of most of our races, we could go really far with our season. It’s really exciting to be a part of.” Swenson said.
