Behind the scenes: the road to Hadestown

The Tony-winning hit show by Anais Mitchell was performed at the Huss auditorium May 16-18. The folk opera reimagines the two intertwining Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, two newly-in-love dreamers, and Hades and Persephone, a pair of gods whose passion has frozen over, sending the world into a post-apocalyptic disaster. Eurydice, struggling to choose between her heart and her head, is lured into Hadestown by Hades with a promise of stability and comfort. Orpheus, determined to save her, journeys to the underworld and makes a deal to bring her back, but it comes with a dangerous condition and a cost.

Hadestown: Teen Edition received 21 spotlight awards. Venture behind the scenes with students Frances Matthews, Kate Tuttle, Rowan Moore and music director Tim Kraack to hear about performance prep and how the show was shaped up.

Aarushi Bahadur, Director of RubicOnline

Aarushi Bahadur (she/her) is an avid record collector. Her interest in vinyl began when she picked up a Til Tuesday record from a secondhand bookshop to try on the player her father got for his birthday, after which she became hooked. Her favorite vinyl to play is The Greatest Hits of Eric Bourdon and The Animals, which she finds well accompanies a warm cup of tea and long summer nights. Audrey Peltier, Social Media Assistant

Audrey Peltier (she/her) attended a summer program in Los Angeles for two weeks exploring the business side of sports and entertainment. She got the opportunity to visit Sofi Stadium and hold a 2022 Super Bowl Ring. She can be found swimming, playing lacrosse, and hanging out with friends and family.
