On May 13, an upper school assembly was held to demonstrate talents that students wanted to display. This talent show was rescheduled due to an overlap of Senior Speeches.
Prior to the talent show, students needed to pass a performance review, and to incentivize participation, students who participated were promised House Cup points. Five acts were performed: four junior and one sophomore entries.
The show started off with a cartwheel from junior Zimo Xie and then in came the singers. First was sophomore Anneli Wilson who sang “Paper Bag” by Fiona Apple. They sang a three-minute-long song that flowed through beautifully.
Next, junior Zahra Wiedmann who performed “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan on guitar. The coordination between the chords on the guitar and her lyrical prowess offered a great live performance.
The final music performance was a trio of juniors Laura Kimmel, Sophie Donahue, and Devyani Nelson who performed “Piano Man” by Billy Joel. While Donahue and Kimmel sang along and played the piano, Nelson blew into the harmonica during the chorus.
“I was really nervous before, but once I got up there and the crowd started getting into it, then I was having fun,” Nelson said.
Finally, it was concluded by an act created by juniors Roman Farley, Johann DeVriese, and Ethan He who drew a caricature of Farley.
Throughout the show, the viewers were cheering and were pretty lively, which contributed to the supportive environment.
