Starting this spring, the girl’s lacrosse team added one new school to their co-op: last year, the co-op consisted of St. Agnes and Nova, and this year St. Croix Lutheran was added.

Sophomore Stella Hunter has enjoyed the

addition of a new school as the team works to bring the team together, “The schools are kind of divided still, but I think we’re working on bringing the team together as not just Varsity and JV, but as a whole team,” Hunter said.

Junior Captain Dia Chaney has worked extra hard to bring the team together especially with the addition of a new school, “To make sure everyone knew each other, the other captains and I started captains practices a little earlier than usual. We also have sister groups within the team so people can get to know each other better.”

From St.Croix Lutheran, Amy Nanziri is an international student from Uganda, who has been able to play LAX through this new co-op.

9th grader Sylvia Westra has enjoyed meeting new people through the sport, “It’s been really fun connecting with the girls from St Croix and just learning more about them when we wouldn’t have met them otherwise.” Westra said.

The home opener was planned to take place on Apr. 17 but was postponed due to weather issues and a wet field. The next home game was on Apr. 23 the first home game, where the Girls LAX team played Blake and lost 1-18.

In the fourth quarter, Naomi Glozman scored the goal for the game, the GLAX team has their next game on Apr. 28 on Lang field at 5:30.
