At the Homecoming game, the bleachers filled with eager SPA students as they wait for the girls varsity soccer team’s game to begin. In the crowd, a wave of blue and gold could be seen with the occasional bright Dig Pink shirt. As each player stepped up, the spectators cheered and shouted as loud as they could. Then the anthem started: the singer’s voice rung out of the speaker; as she got to the last line, the crowd shouted, “and the home of the…SPARTANS.”

Then, with a whistle, the game started. A roar builds up as number nine captain Mia Hofmann approached the goal. She scored and the stand shakes with excitement. After the first goal, SPA continued o their scoring streak. By halftime, SPA was in the lead 5:0.

“I think it went well once we stopped being selfish with the ball we were a lot more successful,” said Hofmann.

The team is constantly improving their coordination and teamwork as it is only one of the first few games that they have played this year. “I think our team did really well, we definitely got better at just playing together as a team and building that kind of chemistry,” said junior Julia Kolbert.

The game ended as SPA emerged victorious with a perfect score of 6:0. “The best moment in the game was probably hearing all the fans cheering for us the whole time,” said Hofmann.
