Easter, celebrated by millions of people around the world, holds great significance to Christianity for marking the resurrection of Jesus. But beyond its religious roots, Easter is a celebration of spring and family, even for those who do not celebrate it as religiously. The SPA community is no different, with many students celebrating Easter with their families in their own unique ways.
“I hang out with my family from out of town, they make really good food, and we just celebrate and have fun,” junior Fletcher Coblentz said. “We have egg bake too, that stuff is amazing,” added Coblentz.
Food plays a central role in Easter celebrations, whether it be brunch after church or family dinners, meals are a way to gather and connect.
“Egg bowl and honey ham is what we have,” junior Josh Melchert said.
Sweets are a definite highlight. “Reese’s peanut butter cups that are shaped like eggs are amazing,” said junior Atari Ernst.
Each family’s Easter table tells a different story, but a common theme is togetherness.
“I always get with my extended family,” freshman Jayden Tilton said. “We also always have Easter baskets hidden around the house for all of us to find,” said Tlton. Easter baskets are a classic staple of Easter celebrations with the small baskets of candy always bringing joy to younger kids. “For the holiday, we also wear pretty nice clothing for all the activities,” Tilton said.
Easter celebrated Apr. 20, served as a reminder of joy, renewal and the importance of spending time with loved ones. Whether through food or traditions, the SPA community found its own way to celebrate the season.
