After a Monday of rain and thunder the day prior, the boys tennis team took to the home courts on a beautiful Tuesday, May 8 to face the longtime Spartan rival, the Blake Bears. While the sky was clear, the energy on the court was dominated by motivation for the Spartans, both to take down an important opponent, but to do it for the seniors being celebrated that night.

The seniors came out to play that night, with captains Ben Macedo and Jacob Colton winning their first doubles matchup 6-3, 6-4. At fourth singles, Aiden Williams would come out with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win. Ninth grade Henry Cammack and sophomore Gavin Leuthold kept up the victories at the third doubles spot, coming out with a 6-2, 6-1 win.

The rest of the Spartans lineup struggled to replicate the victories against the tough Bears. At first and third singles, ninth grader Winston Arvidson and junior Allan Wang would drop close sets with 6-3, 7-6 and 7-5, 6-4 losses respectively. Sophomore Isaak Senaratna and ninth grader Luca Kempcke would drop their second doubles match up 6-3, 7-5. Senior David Schumacher lost a tough 6-1, 6-2 at his second singles position, causing the overall score to be a close 3-4 in favor of the bears.

The boys next take on Bloomington Jefferson at Bloomington Jefferson on May 7.
