US Announcements: Tonight is movie night! “Akira” in the Lecture Room at 6:00

1.Today at Book Fest: The Book Fest is proud to welcome Julie Schumacher, U of M professor and author of the novel The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls. She will be available to chat about and sign copies of her book in the Summit Center 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Stop by and let her know what your think of book clubs, whether you’ve been in one or not. Her take on them may surprise you.

2. NORDIC Captains’ Practices this week – meet at 3:15 outside Mr. Brown’s office, dressed for the weather! Come on out and have some fun! Everyone welcome! Come to the Coaches/Parents/Skiers meeting Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10am in the Lecture Room. The NORDIC season begins Monday, Nov. 12. SKI ON!!!

3.Attention all Ceramic students 7th -12th: All unglazed bisqueware will be tossed, without remorse,this December 7. Glaze your pots! Mr. Jewett

4. Tonight is movie night! “Akira” in the Lecture Room at 6:00. Your ONLY reason for not attending? If you’re already going to the super cool Advanced Science Research presentation in Bigelow also at 6:00.

5.Looking at your Semester 2 schedule, maybe you are free Period 7. Why not fill that time with Writing for Publication II? As a staff writer for The Rubicon, you’ll write Arts & Entertainment Reviews, Opinion Pieces, and Sports. Learn to write what you love to read – add W4P II. Questions? See Ms. Campbell, Editor-in-Chief Aditi Kulkarni, or any staff member.

6.Today SSJ will display photographs of child brides on the second floor of the Summit Center, by the admissions office. Please take a moment to learn more about this issue by stopping to look at the photos and read the stories that go with them. We will have a bake sale Thursday and Friday during the lunch periods to raise money for Women for Afghan Women, an organization that helps women and girls in situations similar to those detailed the photographs

7. US Orchestra: sectionals today, no rehearsal tomorrow. Next Monday: optional concert DVD viewing party. Tuesday regular sectionals.
