On Feb. 20, the Girls United Hockey team had their first section game at the Xcel Energy Center, against Warroad, an undefeated team located six hours away from St. Paul. Although United lost 0-4, the fan section was one of nothing other than optimistic spirit, where the student fans dressed in pajamas and made big signs to cheer on their hockey-playing friends. Seniors Nina Ciresi were among them, both dressed in the nostalgic footsie pajamas younger kids used to wear: “You gotta be behind to have a comeback,” Romans said.
A near comeback the United team did- their next game on Feb. 21 against Rochester Lourdes was a tight game with United losing only by one point (3-4), marking the end of their season.
