Sophomore Nora Turner animates her drawings on her computer. “I haven’t had any official art classes except for one drawing class last semester. To practice, I draw all time in my notebooks, sketchbooks, and on the computer,” Turner said.

Most people don’t know that sophomore Nora Turner is a self-taught artist and animator. She has been drawing for several years and now shares her work on social media.

“Drawing and animating is a good way to chill when I have free time at school,” Turner said. “I got bored in seventh grade and just started doodling, and it progressed from there until I’ve become very, very good,” she said.

“I post my art to my social media where I and other artists can exchange tips!”

Turner started her drawing career doodling animals. She still feels this is her strongest subject matter. Her contemporary cartoons, full of movement and featuring outlines, often contain cat-like creatures.

“I’ve been trying to build up to a more painter-y style though,” she said.
