“The Yellow Wallpaper” advances to state

“The Yellow Wallpaper” took a nail-biting first place finish at One Act Sections Feb. 5, advancing them to the State Festival.

According to Director Eric Severson, “SPA competed against six other schools and they were all incredible. It came down to a three-way tie for first place.”

The top three schools had a total of 8 points. According to MSHSL rules, in the case of a three-way tie, judge’s individual rankings are converted into reciprocal fractions: 1st = 1.00, 2nd = .50, 3rd = .33, 4th = .25, and 5th =.20

SPA was ranked 1st, 2nd and 5th by the judges for a total of 1.7 points, a 0.12 point lead on the second place show from Glencoe Silver Lakes.

The Class A performances on Friday take place at O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University.
