Daniel Detzner, a longtime U of M professor who spent over 40 years supporting marginalized students, has died at 80. He created programs for immigrants, incarcerated people, and first-gen students, and was known for his deep care and mentorship.

Thousands ran the 43rd Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, with Will Norris winning the men’s race in 2:15 and Jane Bareikis taking the women’s title in 2:33. Norris, a full-time worker and apprentice in Virginia, trains around his job with help from his father-in-law, who’s also his coach. Bareikis, bouncing back from injury, called the race a beautiful and meaningful experience.
