Freshman Mimi Geller and sophomore Greta Sirek sit and read with school kids through the Haitian Initiative. Unlike mission-related trips, Haitian Initiative is a non-denominational program. The Haitian Initiative program was a well-oiled machine, and I am so thankful the athletes, students and coaches accepted us into their amazing program, Sirek said.

On Thanksgiving morning, St. Paul Academy and Summit School Community Actions and Service group members woke up at 1:30 AM and made their way to Cretin-Derham hall to participate in the annual Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels event.
Seniors Carrie JaeGer, Alexis Irish, and Maddie Flom-Staab cheered on bicyclists participating in the St. Paul Classic Bike Tour at the corner of Mississippi River Boulevard and Randolph Avenue on Sept. 7. “It’s a beautiful day! I enjoy the pink-I appreciate your style!” Flom-Staab yelled in encouragement.

She has worked with the Sampaku Program before and plans to complete her sophomore service hours in the program.  “It’s awesome because the same kids come week to week and we all know each other which makes them more excited to play and learn about soccer,” Matticks said.
