ECLIPSE. A solar eclipse is a rare event in which the moon is between Earth and the Sun, blocking the view of the sun. In other parts of the United States, the view of the Sun will be totally blocked, constituting whats called a total eclipse. A total eclipse is a completely different event that is another level of coolness. So if they [the students] have that chance, they should absolutely take the chance to see a total eclipse if they ever can. The next one in Minnesota will be the year 2099, Astronomy and Planetary Science teacher Joseph Martin said.

Senior Emilia Hoppe has volunteered at the annual Sanneh Foundation gala with her friends for over five years. “The Sanneh Foundation helps run the Conway Community Center in St. Paul where they provide free after-school care and dinner services. The program is a bit understaffed, so I will help keep the kids entertained and supervised,” Hoppe said.

Sophomore Greta Sirek, a volunteer at Conway Recreation Center, helped children conduct volcano experiments with baking soda and vinegar. “I love seeing the kids smile and it’s fun when I come back after a while and the kids run up to me and give me a hug,” Sirek said.
