The Quiz Bowl team came home with a trophy Thursday night.
Senior Noel Abraham and alum Max Moen 19 chat during the teachers versus students quiz bowl tournament in 2018. This year is Abrahams eighth year in quiz bowl. “The school I used to go to was a very small school. It was Knowledge Bowl in middle school, which is more of a team based thing. Those who did it were like royalty. I managed to join in fifth grade, the earliest anyone had joined,” Abraham said.

Junior Peter Blanchfield and seniors Bailey Troth, Coleman Thompson, Phoebe Pannier, and Paul Watkins competed at Quiz Bowl Nationals over Memorial Day weekend.  The team finished 142 out of approximately 340 teams.

St. Paul Academy and Summit School offers dozens of interesting, diverse groups that provide outlets for students to accomplish amazing things.  Options arise for every student, from Spartan Boosters to Film Club to Spartan Beats to Quiz Bowl to Intercultural Club. Plus, its incredibly simple to start a new group when theres interest.

Quiz Bowl team wins ACRONYM meet

The team placed first overall, with junior Ewan Lang placing third individually.
Quiz Bowl honed their skills for national competition at the annual students vs. teachers match on May 22.  Upper School science teacher Andrea Bailey, US English teacher Matt Hoven, US math teacher Carl Corcoran, and US history teacher Jon Peterson faced off against freshman Peter Blanchfield and sophomores Cole Thompson, Paul Watkins, and Ewan Lang in this round.  The competition was facilitated by Quiz Bowl sophomores Patrick Commers and Netta Kaplan.  The team goes on to compete at Nationals the weekend of May 29.
