Last Friday, the Saint Paul Academy and Summit School Jazz Ensemble performed in the Fall Pops Concert. This was the Ensemble’s first concert (in recent years) with Band Director Randy Reid.
Jake Therian plays percussion in Jazz Band. He said it isnt hard to learn to play the drums: Well, obviously, its not like a trumpet where you have to figure out how to play a note, Im assuming a lot of people can hit a drum. So its just kind of figuring that out. And like, timing is a big thing too, because youre the one that keeps the band on track and going.
