Senior Sabrina Rucker earned honorable mention for Aspirations in Computing. The award is given through the National Center for Women and Information Technology and recognizes young womens passion for computer science. “The award is more symbolic than anything to me. I have been trying to get an honorable mention for the last couple of years. Every time I got basically one step above a participation award, so this is like a ‘finally’ sort of thing,” Rucker said.

A variety of Computer Science classes will be offered to SPA students in the upcoming school year. Its something that many of us have felt is lacking for a while. Im really excited that were adding it. And Im excited for the program, Upper School Principal Chris Hughes said.

In the works is a variety of new course offerings related to Computer Science that will be available to St. Paul Academy and Summit School students the upcoming school year. These courses include Introduction to computer science, Computer Science Principles I and II, Competition Robotics, Regular Robotics, Advanced Topics in Computer Design.
The ubiquitous 16-gigabyte memory card has over 200,00 times the memory capacity of the computer program that guided Apollo spacecraft, according to Computer Weekly. In the context of the steep curve of technological advancement, starting a computer science course is a clear and immediate necessity.
