Students orchestrate successful POPS concert

The St. Paul Academy and Summit School annual POPS concert was a roaring success. Over 200 Upper School students joined together at O’Shaughnessy Auditorium at St. Catherine University on Saturday for a night of wonderful music. This was the first POPS experience for junior Katherine Jones, who plays in the Orchestra. “I was a little nervous, but it was definitely worth it,” Jones said. She said that the grand finale, “Eye of the Tiger”, which was performed by all of the bands, choirs and orchestras together, was her favorite piece of the night.

Junior Mary Merrill, who plays Viola in the orchestra enjoyed sharing the stage with all of the different music groups. “It was just really fun,” Merrill said. “It was the first time I had heard all of the pieces from the band and the choirs, so it was fun to hear what they were doing.” The audience felt the energy of the musicians and gave a roaring standing ovation at the end of the concert.
