Sophomores Claire Walsh and Alena Porter lead the Students for Social Justice student group. “We are hoping to begin to educate the SPA community through informational posters throughout the next month,” Walsh said.

The Students for Social Justice student group’s goal is to educate its members and the St. Paul Academy and Summit School community about social justice issues that occur locally and globally. “We discuss a variety of different topics, but a common theme is women’s rights,” sophomore president Claire Walsh said.

This month, SSJ is focusing on the topic of rape in military settings. “We are currently educating ourselves on the topic of rape in conflict and how it is used as a tactic of war,” Walsh said. The group hopes to bring awareness about this injustice to the SPA community.“We are hoping to begin to educate the SPA community through informational posters throughout the next month,” Walsh added.

The fearless student group aims to bring to light wrongdoings and inequality in the world, in order to create a more informed, conscious school community.
