Students dress for the weather

Heading out the door in the morning, St. Paul Academy students are not only prepared for an assortment of quizzes and essays, but a wide variety of weather possibilities, ranging from blizzards to sunshine to rain, all within a week. Among many, spring dresses or even just t-shirts are covered up with a trendy cardigan or an imitation denim button-up. The latter option, whose fabric is similar to denim but lighter, is the inspiration for the term “blue collar”. It’s light texture makes it bearable in summer heat but reliable on colder days. Popular pairings with chambray include statement necklaces and casual scarves, tucked into a skirt or pants. Another creative element students experiment with are the ends of the shirt: tying the ends transforms the shirt into a chic bolero top that shows off a shirt worn underneath. Conversely, a chambray shirt can peek out underneath a warm sweater to give an outfit a more polished vibe. “I usually like to wear a pair of black leggings and black riding boots with this shirt,” sophomore Bridget Hoffman said.
