During their junior and senior years hundreds of thousands of students across the U.S. prepare to take the SAT and ACT. These standardized tests play a pivotal role in the admissions of many colleges and taking the PSAT sophomore year can make a significant contribution to admissions if you are considered for a National Merit award. 15 percent of the graduating class of 2019 are National merit Semifinalists. This makes St. Paul Academy and Summit School the only independent school in Minnesota to rank in the top 5 schools by the award. The lessons are taught early Wednesday mornings before school starts by Erin Block. The average cost of SAT tutoring is 70 dollars a session and at SPA the class costs about 50 dollars.

Erin did a good job of going over the questions and showing us how to do them.

— Krista Schlinger

SAT prep classes offer an invaluable resource for a fraction of the price of normal lessons. Senior Krista Schlinger took the class last year and said, “Erin did a good job of going over the questions and showing us how to do them”. Schlinger enjoyed the class and recommends that other sophomores and juniors take advantage of the opportunity. Lily Nestor agreed with Schlinger saying that this class helped her during the SAT process. This class is very important to our community because of the competitive nature of students. SAT prep helps to create an even playing field and gives all students a discounted advantage.
