With finals week approaching, it can be hard to detach from its stresses, even while doing an activity whose purpose is to be an escape from academic life. However, the Girls Basketball Team is trying hard to get rid of the continuous nagging of finals; playing music wherever and whenever they can.

“We play music in the locker room when we’re getting ready for the game to get us hyped up and excited because it makes the energy better at the start of the game,” sophomore Rashmi Raveendran said. The team is also infamous for their locker room chant before every game, which helps get their heads in the game.

With songs like Jaden Smith’s “Icon,” their game playlist gives them the confidence necessary to play as boldly as the song calls for: “For home games, the playlist is a lot of upbeat rap music that keeps the team energized- then we can start the game with a lot of excitement,” Raveendran said.
