Summer is a perfect time to spend volunteering- with nice weather outdoor opportunities are endless. Sophomore Val Hart spent a few days during the summer volunteering with kids, playing tag and hanging out on the playground.

Through the Sanneh Foundation, founded by St. Paul Academy and Summit School alum Tony Sanneh, volunteering comes in many varieties: playing soccer, helping kids with schoolwork, and in Hart’s case, playing with kids. At the Conway Recreation Center in St. Paul, the Sanneh Foundation runs many activities and programs for kids, including sports and academic support.

This accessible opportunity is something that is not only something that will help kids, but also an all around fun experience. “It’s cool because it doesn’t even feel like volunteering. It’s really fun and in the end I know I have helped make someones day a little better, which is rewarding,” Hart said.

The Sanneh Foundation loves new volunteers, and with their wide range of volunteering options, SPA students will be sure to find something that is right for them.
