Mike Smith is the creator of The Harbor, a show sponsored by Jostens about leadership, growth, and school culture. He will be the speaker at the Jostens Renaissance Tour on Nov. 2 at Wayzata High School

The renaissance is here.  Approximately 25 students will attend the Jostens Renaissance Tour accompanied by US Director of Publications Kathryn Campbell and Dean of Students Max Delgado to leadership skills through interactive workshops. Students and faculty will be going to the tour stop from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m at Wayzata High School along with several other Minnesota school representatives.

In these past couple of school years Delgado and the Council for Student Safety (previously known as the Safe Space Task Force) have been working together in order to ensure everyone feel safe and included in the community regardless of their interests or backgrounds. This workshop will help the CSS and other student leaders determine how best to work together to shape positive school culture.

Dean of students Max Delgado said that, “The council for student safety has become smaller, and the students from their grades will work with me by making workshops specific for their grades.”

Jostens, the company that publishes the yearbook, sponsors the workshop.  Jostens Renaissance education has been working for 25 years to educate and renew the culture in schools they partner with. They build culture by improving students’ characters, growing connections with their peers, and celebrating all achievements made by the students.

Mike Smith is the speaker that will be relaying his teachings to the students and teachers that are going on the trip. Smith seemed to be an ordinary student until his senior year of high school. He believes that being ordinary is a choice and that he can control his destiny. He has been recklessly pursuing his passions. Smith founded The Bay ( a skate community for youths) and many other skate parks and for youths across the nation for the purpose of teaching youths to go out in the world and seize the day.
