On May 5, students hoping to join elected groups for the 2025-26 school year delivered speeches to the entirety of the upper school student body. Following the assembly, students were sent a Google Form which allowed them to vote for who they wanted to represent the classes next year.

During the assembly, candidates gave one to two minute speeches discussing their plans and goals for the community for the next year. With plans to support the community through the goals of making phones available during the school day, creating stress free dances, and bringing back snacks, across elected groups, the candidates’ ultimate goal was to create a stress free environment.

Juniors Raina Heidkamp and Zoe Huelster ran to be the SAC president and vice president. “Our goals as president and vice president are to create community dances and most importantly curate them to what our student body wants,” said Huelster. Students voted for the pair because of their open mindedness and communication skills.

Evan Morris and Zimo Xie campaigned to be the next USC co-vice presidents. “We want to incorporate compost into our routines and cafeteria” said Morris. Their ideas warranted students’ interest because of their commitment to bringing the school into a more sustainable state.

The voting closed at 6 p.m. that night and results were sent via email at 7 p.m., and with many students running unopposed, voting was a quick process. On May 12, students voted to elect class representatives during a class meeting period.
