[PHOTO GALLERY] Best 100 art exhibition displays student excellence

The array of artwork that students at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, while it does hang on display throughout the school, is often taken for granted. Mar. 1 was an exception. US Art Teachers selected student works to submit to the Les Farrington Best 100 Juried Art Exhibition presented by the JCL in St. Paul. Out of 800 submitted works from 16 high schools in the Twin Cities area, only 100 were admitted into the art gallery.

Of those 100, eight students from SPA were honored with Best 100 awards. In addition to these awards, junior Iris Shaker-Check was awarded a Merit Award for her teapot and received a $100 scholarship. Senior Lillian Pettigrew earned $1000 in scholarship money for her senior portfolio paintings.

The evening was filled with art enthusiasts and supportive families and friends. Feelings of appreciation and inspiration cluttered the gallery. The Best 100 Juried Art Exhibition will run through Mar. 25 at the AZ Galery.
