Offset

Valentino boots, biscotti perfume, and Bentleys, Offset is a success in the flesh. Offset is not only the most successful Migo at this point but also the most talented. Offset has a unique voice in the group, with a deeper and more eloquent flow in his repertoire. Each Migos song he sings on, which is nearly all of them unlike Takeoff, one can immediately recognize his unique style.

Take Migos’ four most popular songs according to Genius, and see his contribution to them. First is “Slide” produced by Calvin Harris featuring Frank Ocean and Migos, except Takeoff was yet again not included. Though Ocean’s chorus is catchy, Offset’s single verse is unforgettable. “Average, I’ma make a million on average,” is one of the most rememberable lines of last year. Next is “Versace REMIX” featuring Drake. Unlike the rest of the artists on this song, Offset was the first to have his own solo verse. It was fire. Third, there is “T-Shirt,” a Migos only song. Though Offset does not have a huge part in this song, his verse is easily the best of the song. Sounding and feeling completely different to any of Quavo or Takeoff’s verses, he puts out some straight heat. His line, “Divin’ off the stage in the crowd, it’s a mosh pit,” single-handedly made this song what many commonly refer to as “a banger.” Most importantly of all is Migos’ most popular song featuring Lil Uzi Vert, “Bad and Boujee.” This song took the rap hip-hop world by storm and it’s still extremely popular. The main reason for this, Offset taking this song by the scruff and the neck and turning it into greatness. He dominates the song, along with creating one the most unforgettable choruses in all of music. Offset clearly works well in the group itself, taking songs and making them his own. Where Offset has especially excelled in the recent years, though, is with his solo career.

On October 31st, Offset along with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin released one of the albums of the year in “Without Warning.” From his first impressive chorus in “Ghostface Killers” it was obvious he was a superstar. His verse in “Rap Saved Me” are some of the hardest listeners heard in 2017. Above all, he released the absolute hit of “Ric Flair Drip.” This was a song that flexed his wealth and power in the music world easily, but with so much great style. His bars, his flow, his power was all very impressive. This song became one of if not the best rap songs of the year. Offset also took part in the other huge songs of the album such as “Disrespectful,” “Mad Stalkers,” and “Still Serving,” and he managed to combine with 21 Savage for some great chemistry. He also had two other high-quality singles in the album with “Nightmare” and “Darth Vader.”

Offset can swing a hook by the start of the song and finish it off with a hardcore verse. This is why Offset is so important to Migos and why he is the best member, no matter whether either Quavo or Takeoff is underperforming, Offset will always be there to “offset” any lackluster performances from his fellow family members.
