Junior Kaia Larsen poses with her souvenir Vikings cup in front of the US Bank Stadium after the Oct. 15 game. “I started watching the [Vikings] games on Sundays with my dad when I was in third grade, and since then I’ve loved the Vikings,” Larsen said.

After years of following Minnesota’s professional football team, the Vikings, junior Kaia Larsen considers herself a super fan. Larsen follows the Vikings schedule weekly, watches each game, and participates in a fantasy football pool every year. When it comes to the Vikings, Larsen is the expert.

“I started watching the [Vikings] games on Sundays with my dad when I was in third grade, and since then I’ve loved the Vikings,” Larsen said.

Larsen describes her obsession with the Vikings as unexpected and enjoyable.

“When my dad showed me the first game, I never thought that I would love them as much as I do. I think it started only because they were Minnesota’s football team, and I wanted to support Minnesota. Then I started following the team after games, and eventually I was still aware of what was happening with the Vikings during their postseason,” Larsen said.

The Super Bowl 52  will be played on Feb. 4. at the US Bank Stadium, and Larsen hopes the Vikings will make their way to that game.

“I’m trying to either work or volunteer at US Bank during the Vikings games and the Super Bowl, so it would be exciting to see the Super Bowl live–and even better if the Vikings were playing. Right now, I think that’s realistic since the Vikings are 4-2 and 1st in the NFC North,” Larsen said.

The Vikings next home game is Oct. 22 against the Baltimore Ravens at 12:00 p.m. Larsen is looking forward to rooting the team on, and showing off her true colors: purple and gold.
