March Madness swept through the community sparking rivalries and bringing out extreme team spirit as the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers and the Duke University Blue Devils battled it out in the NCAA basketball finals. St. Paul Academy and Summit School students anticipated the final game for a long time, counting on the teams they chose for their brackets to succeed from game to game. On March 6, Duke pulled off the win over Wisconsin 68-63.

“Duke’s subs came through,” sophomore Noel Parker said.

Students showed up for school on Mar. 7 after the game either excited to show their Duke spirit or express their loyalty to Wisconsin through wearing their gear.

“I am very happy to be reppin’ my team [Duke] and am glad they won!” freshman Connor Brattland said.

As some Wisconsin fans represented their preferred team, they looked back on the game disappointedly.

“Wisconsin blew it. I thought they should have won but Duke decided to turn on the jets and took this game,” sophomore Jack Johnston said.
