After the almost three year wait, Kanye West finally dropped The Life of Pablo, his seventh album.  After all the months of Twitter hype the appears to be worth the wait. TLOP conveys a different feeling that offers more soul than his past albums which are much more of straight rap. The album still does contain his confident lyrics and beats. The lyrics are not the strongest but the beats are what make this album.

The best songs on the album are “Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1” with its great beat especially the Young Metro part because of the beat drop. “Famous” is another good song  for fans of  typical Kanye lyrics about how great he is, even though he offers some rude words for Taylor Swift. “Real Friends,” which dropped before the album came out , evokes a soulful sound revisiting classic 2009 Kanye, resulting in a superb listen with the right balance of lyrics and music.

Overall the album is a mixture of party tunes and soul songs. TLOP involved some risks for Kanye after all the hype,  but it does have some very exceptional tracks and, overall, the experimentation pays off. The album also features lots of popular artists such as Chance the Rapper, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, and Future. TLOP is  available on Tidal.
