In the second set, Blake put up a strong defense, however, they were ultimately overpowered by the SPA offensive lineup.

“It was important for us to keep our energy high after our first set win because we knew Blake would want to take that from us. I always make sure in our huddles in between sets my teammates stay hydrated and pumped up to keep fighting,” senior and captain Blythe Rients said.

The third set started with an initial 6 point deficit with Blake in the lead. SPA fought back with several aces and kills which ended the game with a final score of 25-14.

“I’m so happy that the season is back. During the summer I was really looking forward to playing with my team again for my senior season. This win against Blake really boosts our team’s spirit and I’m looking forward to upcoming games,” Rients said.

Their next game will take place on Sept. 17 in Briggs Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. against the Minnehaha Varsity Volleyball team.
