The Girls Varsity Soccer team has had a successful start to the 2014 season with a 5-2 record overall. The team beat their conference rival Minnehaha 3-0 in an exciting match on Sept. 2.  With only four seniors, the team this year is relatively young. However, most of the team has played together before, as only four new players were added this season. “The team this year is very cohesive, more so than last year,” sophomore goalkeeper Maria Perkkio said. “There is really good team chemistry”. While in the 2013-14 season the team made it to the second round of playoffs, the current team has high aspirations for this season. “This is a big year for us.” Perkkio said. The team added to the wins column with a decisive 5-1 victory over the Convent of the Visitation on Sept. 4. Their next game is at home on Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. vs Providence Academy.
